Lodging Frequently Asked Questions

Do you allow dogs?

We focus on a community experience unlike a typical hotel environment and much of the area within the Hostel is shared-space. Other guests may have serious allergies or feel uncomfortable in the presence of your pet. For this reason, we do not allow pets inside the Hostel. Pets are also not allowed in Baxter State Park. However, Katahdin Kritters Pet Resort will house your dog while you stay with us and summit Katahdin. We can deliver your hiking companion to you at Abol Bridge when you exit the Park.

What time can I check-in/out?

Check-in is 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. We ask that our guests try to arrive before 7 p.m.  We do not allow check-in to the bunkhouse after 8 p.m or the private area after 9 p.m.  Many of our guests go to bed early in order to wake up by 5 a.m. for a Katahdin summit. We begin our days very early, so we thank you for your understanding.

Our check-out time is 10 a.m.

Can my family stay at AT Hostel?

Families are always welcome! Whether you're dropping off a southbounder, waiting on a northbounder to finish their journey, or visiting the region, we have clean and comfortable rooms at a reasonable price. We are known for being one of the cleanest and best kept hostels along the Trail.

Can groups stay at AT Hostel?

Yes, we would love to have your group stay with us!

Do you offer work for stay?

Work for stay is limited, as we have several employees, but it never hurts to ask.

Do you offer meals?

While we do not offer meals, there are several restaurants within a 5 minute walk. We do have frozen meals and snacks for purchase in our Outfitters. We offer a simple breakfast for our SoBo guests.
